Welcome to my latest newsletter.

This month sees me returning to Sweden for a 10 date concert tour. I
will be backed by The Fortunes and also on the tour are The Swinging
Blue Jeans and Marmalade. If my memory serves me correctly this will
be the 3rd or 4th time I have appeared in Sweden. My first tour was in
1963 but unfortunately a planned tour in 1964 had to be cancelled as
a result of my filming commitments. My most recent appearance in that
wonderful country was in 2005 when I played in Stockholm. Borje Larsson
took several photographs at that performance such as the one above and
my thanks go to him for allowing us to show them on the website.
I always enjoy touring Sweden and was very fortunate to have nine records
in the ‘Top Ten’ in that country during the early 60’s. I believe my biggest
selling hit was ‘Cupboard Love’, reaching the No 1 position in the Swedish
charts and surprisingly ‘Tell Laura I love Her’ was also was a major hit
for me reaching No.2 in 1964.
Our good friend Eric Gunn has supplied us with pictures of my Swedish records
from his extensive collection and we have put them up on the Fans
Page for you to enjoy. Thank you again Eric.
I understand that when my Original Fan Club was running a separate branch was
set up in Sweden. I’m not sure if any of my Swedish fans have any memories
of that branch of the Fan Club, but if any of you do we would welcome any
items and memories that you may wish to share with us.
The Rapiers and myself are appearing at Butlins in Minehead on Sunday
5th March.
My interview for the Dusty Springfield Bulletin is published
this month and we picture a copy of the cover. Those of you who have pre-ordered
a copy should be receiving it shortly. However we have a few extra copies
and if anybody would like to order one please email
us.
The Saturday Telegraph magazine interview should be published on 11th
March.
I mentioned in my February Newsletter that Clem Cattini, Peter Williams and myself had been interviewed for a forthcoming Billy Fury DVD.
The picture shows
the 3 of us relaxing prior to our interviews taking place.
The 3 day session at Western-Star studios went very well and we are now
well on the way to completing my new CD, as is Peter Williams who is putting
the finishing touches to his Instrumental CD tribute to myself.
Our good friend Dave Lodge, Manager of Tommy Bruce, has informed us that the Gala event
held at Potters Bar was very successful in raising funds to assist Tommy
and that a book about Tommy, written by Dave, entitled ‘Have gravel will
travel’, is nearing publication, I have contributed an article to the book
and we will be giving you full details as soon as we have them, should you
wish to order a copy. It should be a very enjoyable and interesting read.
A big thank you to those of you who kindly sent me birthday greetings, an assortment
of presents and contacted radio stations for a birthday request to be played for me.
Always yours.
