Hello Everybody,
I should like to pass on my thanks to the many of you who came to the Eddie Cochran Weekend at Chippenham,
also to Gwen and Ken who organised this special event. I was very pleased to meet up again with
Charlie Gracie, a real Rock ‘n’ Roll legend and such a friendly person.
Next month we will be putting up on the website a special page on the event. We’ve some great pictures that
I would like to share with you.
Many of you travelled a long way to get to the event, none more so than Lesley and Tom who came from Australia,
not forgetting those of you who came from far reaches of the UK.
I also enjoyed meeting up again with Dell and Karen Richardson when I was a recent guest on Dell’s
‘Good Rockin’ Tonight’ show. I think it’s important that we all continue to support Dell’s excellent
programme as unfortunately it’s one of the very few ‘oldies’ shows still on the airwaves.
In response to many requests, here’s a copy of Karen’s ‘Ode to John Leyton’ that
Karen composed during the show.
J ust to have you here today
O ur pleasure it is that you should stay
H ope you have a lovely time
N ow you are on Caroline.
L ots of calls and e-mails too
E xcited greetings just for you
Y ou’re always welcome on the show
T onight & other future shows
O n Radio Caroline you will be
N ever forgotten on our scene.
LOOK FOR A STAR.
We have had many requests for a ‘’track by track” breakdown on who plays what on each track,
this is now posted on the website. Lone Rider Record Company has had many ‘e’ mails from those of you who have
purchased the CD and we have posted some of them on the Fans page . I enjoyed recording the CD and it really
pleases us all that the comments received from you have been so very positive.
Last month I was interviewed by Russell Newmark for a forthcoming edition of Record Collector magazine,
a great publication for lovers of 50/60’s music. I am also shortly being interviewed by John Howard,
editor of UK Rock magazine, another really good magazine that concentrates on ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll’ music
www.ukrock.net. Matt Slys, USA DJ, is
also shortly to interview me for a John Leyton special for his excellent radio programme.
CONCERT DATES.
We have added details on the ‘performance’ page of some new and recently confirmed concert dates.
The Rapiers and myself are delighted with the response we’ve received for the new numbers that we have
recently added to our concert set.
Whilst taking part in Mike Read’s Big L Roadshow in Margate I had the pleasure of meeting Betty Renz who
is involved with a charity called the Jubilee Sailing Trust, a charity that enables people of all
physical abilities to share the adventure of tall ship sailing. To find out more about this very
worthwhile charity please visit www.jst.org.uk.
JOE MEEK EXHIBITION – GLOUCESTER FOLK MUSEUM
As a result of the popularity of the Exhibition the Gloucester Folk Museum have decided to keep the Exhibition
open until the end of November, originally it was planned to close at the end of September.
Finally I hope to see many of you at the Amersham Rock ‘n’ Roll club on Saturday 4th November when
Mike Berry and I are in Concert. Mike and I are great friends and often share many happy memories of
our days together at 304 Holloway Road and performing together in those early 60’s packages tours.
Always yours.
